The City of Hialeah-Dept. of Water & Sewer now requires a credit check. It is to determine how much deposit will be required to open an account which you pay an extra $15.00 for the service, a processing fee and the deposit. The response I got was that the homeowners pushed for this change because tenants were leaving them with a DEBT. and that is understandable.
MY PROBLEM about this CHANGE is if your credit rating is above outstanding why should you be required a deposit at all. DOESN'T IT DEFEAT THE PURPOSE OF HAVING A CREDIT CHECK IN THE FIRST PLACE! FPL doesn't charge a deposit if you have a good credit rating. Then you're given the option to DECLINE a credit check but then you have to pay around $450.00 as a deposit. "SO ARE YOU REALLY BEING GIVEN AN OPTION"!
