Delta Airlines Complaint

Delta was wrong about my passport - Airlines

- Pennsylvania - Baltimore
My husband and I were scheduled to fly to Antigua on Flight 783 on Nov 17, 2007 to celebrate my 50th birthday, which was Nov 20, 2007. We arrived at BWI at 5:00 AM on Nov 17th and a gentleman from Delta Airlines assisted my husband with self check in using the kiosk system. I handed him my passport which expires on Jan 13, 2008 and he told us that I could not fly because the expiration date had to have 6 months remaining on my passport.

On Nov 21st I called the Antigua Consulate office in New York and they called the Antigua Immigration Office who quickly said that the 6 month requirement is NOT true and Delta should have let me board. I cried for 2 days and now I am just angry. You only turn 50 once in a lifetime and I booked this vacation in July so we'd be in Antigua for my birthday.

I emailed Delta’s customer service on Nov 21st and explained what happened and they responded by providing my husband and I $200.00 vouchers to use toward our next flight with Delta. Our ticket alone cost $2700.00. That was an insult since it doesn’t even come close to compensating us for our vacation.

I spoke to Greg Ingram, who works for Lee Macenczak, on Nov 21st and he told me to fax all of our receipts and he would see what he could do. He seemed really nice and helpful on the phone but I haven’t heard from him since. Nothing. No phone call or email. I don't understand why they wouldn't want to compensate someone for a mistake that they caused. I've emailed CNN, FOX and other stations because they keep broadcasting tips for travelers... I realize that passport rules are changing for entry to each country but I checked before we left and couldn't find anything about Antigua requiring 6 months remaining on your passport when you fly. I didn't find anything because you DON'T have to have 6 months remaining. Delta denied me to fly they need to compensate my husband and I for losing the vacation that we planned for my 50th birthday.
