Defective Macbook Pro HORRIBLE APPLE CUSTOMER SERV - macbookpro 2011

- Cupertino California
I purchased the Mac book Pro 17 inch model from best buy in August of 2011. The computer had lion pre-installed in it. For about two weeks I enjoyed the computer. At that point Apple put out an update to improve wifi when using the computer. I downloaded the update and from that time on my computer has been unable to load many internet pages, unable to log onto face book, my yahoo mail, my yahoo messenger, msn messenger, itunes will not load, ichat will not work, the mac store will not work.

I immediately called Apple Care at which point they had me take Lion off the computer and reinstall in. This did not help at all. For two weeks after that and many many hours on the phone trying different things they were not able to help. I was told to bring it to the apple store. I brought it to the apple store and was told there was nothing they could do and I could return the computer to Best Buy or wait for the next update. In stating this the tech was very arrogant. I called Apple Care again and they tried several other things and still no fix. At this point the techs at Apple Care started to get rude. I asked several techs to return my money and take the computer back. I was told since I did not purchase the product from Apple directly and instead purchased it from Best Buy it was out of their hands. I brought the computer to Best Buy and they refused to return my money as it is after the two week return policy and they were not able to repeat the problem. They offered to take the update out of the computer. I accepted their offer. I received the computer back today and it is not any better then it was before removal of the last update.

I started writing reviews of the computer on several websites and online apple retailers and was contacted by Ryan a customer representative at apple who informed me that Apple would now return my money. I asked him if this meant the full purchase price along with the $500 insurance policy bought at best Buy and he said no just the purchase price. He asked me for a copy of the receipt of the purchase price from best Buy. I faxed it to him and was told its not clear and do it again. I ran back to the store and faxed it a second time. Again Ryan stated he could not read the fax. I know need to find a place to scan the receipt and email him or overnight it. Once received I was told it could take up to six weeks to return my purchase price. When asked about compensating me for the purchase price of Best Buy’s insurance, time taken off of work to run to the Apple store, Best Buy, spend hours and hours on the phone and I was told I wasn’t going to be compensated for this and be happy I was getting anything back.
