Years ago the 14th st and l streey NW sectisn of towns did have prositutues working the streets.
as an effort to stop that trade, The DC Govt put up NO STOPPING Sections on L ST NW between 9 pm and 5 am, and also to RIGHT Turns FROM 9PM TO 5AM, in that whole neighborhood to prevent men, customers, from driving around the block looking for the prostitutes.
NOW 2010, that whole area has been revitalized with trendy new restaurants and night clubs. it has become quite popular. for the most part, the prostitues and other crime is gone.
BUT THE DC GOVT, PARKING METER PEOPLE, are still out, with SELECTIVE ENFORCEMENT ( IE when they need the money) giving $50.00 tickets to everyone who is parked on L st patronoizing the area restaurants and night clubs.
they were there this past Saturday at 11:00pm giving tickets again to everybody.
NOW first of all, there is a legal difference between STOPPING and PARKING.
People today are PARKED there, spending lots of money in the area restaurants, They are NOT STOPPED, picking up the working girls. they are gone for the most part.
BUT NO, DC GOVT SEES A WAY TO MAKE LOTS OF MONEY OFF ENFORCING THESE OLD ANTIQUATED PARKING RETSTRICTIONS THAT WERE INTENDED TO CLEAN UP THE NEIGHBORHOOD, OF PROSTITUES,
BUT INSTEAD THEY ARE KEEPING PEOPLE FROM BEING ABLE TO PATRONIOZE THE AREA RESTURANT AND CLUBS.
THIS IS VERY ANTI BUSINESS, FOR THE COMUNITY.
SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT THIS.
