After seeing an ad on www.curryhonda-ga.com, I went to see a 1998 Honda Civic listed under Bargain. Since my budget was low, this was the only car available for me to purchase. When I got there, I spoke with one of the salesman who showed me the car. Since this is my first time buying a car from a dealer, I just asked him few questions about the car. And then I wanted to know what is the difference between the "Bargain Cars" and the others. He said they are "AS-IS" cars. He showed me an example by pointing out to one of the cars which has lot of scratches on it. He said they'll not fix those but just sell it AS-IS. Then I asked him if 100K servicing is done on 98 Honda Civic like timing belt, oil change, water pump etc. He assured me that it has been done because it goes through their repair center where they check for the safety and do the required servicing. I believed him and never asked him for any paper-work at that time.
I test drove the car. It looked fine and I kind of liked it. We started negotiating the price and I put forth an offer which was about $2000 less than his list price. He accepted my offer very quickly. That got me into suspicion and I talked about this to one of my friends. He asked me not to rush for this and he would like to have a one final look at the car. So, we went together hoping to buy it if everything was good. so, my friend asked this salesman if he has the 100k servicing and he answered in a positive manner. So, we asked him if he has the paper-work and he said "yes". When we asked him to show the papers, he went inside to get them but he returned with his manager, who was very rude. He comes and tell me no one does anything for free. This car has no servicing done and thats why they are called Bargain cars. If that was the case then his salesman should tell us the same thing but not lie. I was shocked when I heard him saying so rudely. And when I was trying to ask him why the salesman lied, he asked me in a very rude way if I want the car or not. It was like he was asking me if you need the car, take it like it is or else just get out of here.
The salesman was lying right on our face and his manager doesn't care about it and make it look like its OK to do business like this. My sole purpose of writing this complaint is to alert the people who want to do business with Curry Honda. Your experience could be different than mine. But I believe in one thing. If a person can lie and try to cheat once, he wouldn't mind doing it again and again. If this was just salesman's fault and his manager apologized, I wouldn't have mind. But when the manager is supporting him and speaks rudely to their customers, it speaks out about their work culture. So, my dear Atlantans just be careful when you shop for your next car at Curry Honda.
