Shortly after we built our home and moved to Clayburn Road in Cumming, Georgia in 1997 we realized that our road was in great need of repair/rehab, so we trotted down to Forsyth County to find out what we needed to accomplish to asphalt our county maintained road. The county told us that we would have to dedicate a portion of our properties and we would also need to obtain signatures from our neighbors who live on the same street, which we did.
You see, ours is a little conduit street between Young Deer Road and Sunrise Lane. It can't be more than five hundred feet. It has been a dirt road for as long as we can remember and the school buses who use this road (there are no children who take the bus on our road) erode it even more, which is dangerous for the children riding those buses trucking through. And it kicks up a lot of dust.
Having finally received all the signatures, we began the process. We spoke with Lynette from the County, our commissioner, Dr. Ledbetter who has since been replaced by a commissioner who is not interested in this process, and several engineers and road employees only to be put off.
After completing the process, we heard nothing for years. Countless calls, and still put off.
We received a call from Michelle Kellogg about four months ago out of the blue. She indicated that the county was reassessing the possibility of completing the project.
That was the last time we have heard from her and have made telephone call to her and she has responded by reminding us that "this is a county maintained road". Yes, we know that. We are part of that county. We ARE the county.
A truck pulled up days after that conversation (this is way the county handles this problem) with more dirt only to be met with a downpour a few days later and we are back at square one. The same old eroded road. Now Ms. Kellogg is telling us that she never received any information, so my husband has again visited the county and left his information only to be ignored.
We just want and need a safe, decent ingress/egress from our homes. It isn't a long and winding road, although it seems that way.
We need help. We have to representation, no road, only excuses.
Would you please call us at your earliest convenience?
Kindest regards,
