Progressive Movers (ie the company) gave me a quote for $70 an hour and I was given an estimate of $210 by an estimator who came to my apartment 2 days before the move. The movers moved my things out of my apartment and storage unit. The movers agreed to move my belongings to a new storage facility and my new apartment. However, when we arrived at the new storage facility, the mover gives me a bill for $897. On this bill- he has added extra costs that were not explained or written in the contract- including travel, tolls, loading/unloading, packing, etc. When I called the company, I spoke with an employee named "Sam." He explained that these extra costs were not on the contract- he told me that I was lying. When I tried to figure out a way to pay, he would not accept any form that I offered. Finally, he said he would accept the bank check after he called his manager. But then he called back saying that I had to hurry up because the movers had another job to do (although they were nearly 2 hours late to my apartment.) He also then said he would not accept bank check after I had to drive all the way to the bank and got the check written in the company's name. He cursed at and threatened me on the phone and said that if he gets fired, he's coming after me. The movers moved my items into the storage unit instead of what was agreed upon location. The mover gave me a handwritten note to explain exorbitant costs for packaging items (for instance- $175 to move my TV which he put cardboard on and tape- which he called a "crate". The total cost for extra packaging was $288 and he did not give me a final bill to detail any extra fees. The mover explained that he felt bad that this company has taken advantage of several customers and that there are several online complaints.
