I came home on December 11, 2009 to find a frozen pipe had broken & was spraying water all over my laundry room. I frantically called a plumber to come out and repair the pipe. My next call was to my insurance agent. She got me on a three way call with the company that they refer these types of claims to. The representative came & assessed the repairs & I signed an agreement giving them access to my home along with a key. I was very hesistant about giving them access to my home but he assured me that his company is licensed and bonded. Since my insurance agent recommended them I figured that they were reputable and afterall they are insured, right!?!?
Well...I discovered that they drank some of my booze and this threw up a redflag!! What else might they have taken? I determined that they also stole a 1 carot diamond ring that was in my jewelry box. I didn't want to involve the police but the GM of the company recommended that I do so (so we wouldn't have to deal with it I am sure) the police questioned both employees that were in my house. The story that they gave their boss was that they went from my front door to the garage where the work was to be done and went no where else in my home. They said that they knew nothing about a ring. When the police questioned them the story changed. Both employees used my restroom. One employee says she saw my ring & can describe it. The ring is gone!! The company that they work for is unwilling to do anything about this!! He says it is my word against theirs and they are accused of stealing ALL THE TIME and then the items turn up! They are the only ones with access to my house!! This has been a nightmare!! Not only dealing with the insurance company but also the police and the company. My insurance agent has done absolutely nothing to help me with this matter.
So, bottom line...apparently the license & bond means absolutely nothing!
