City Kia of Orlando Complaint

Con-Artists at City Kia of Orlando - 2009 Kia Sportage

- Orlando, FL
I went in to City Kia of Orlando looking for a nice pre-owned Sportage. I knew I would be taking a loss as I owed 13,000 on my trade-in but I needed a spacious vehicle right away due to moving out of state. The sales man quoted me 15,000 on a 2009 Sportage with almost 30,000 miles. I knew I was going over 20,000 due to the amount owed on my other vehicle. The Sportage was spacious & not a bad price for a used power package vehicle. I was there for a 7 hour period, the finance agent approached me with contract & the price of 17,750 on it. I disputed it & the salesman told me I heard it all wrong. After 7 hours of being there, I just accepted my loss & signed as I wanted the vehicle because it had lots of space, drove good & was in great condition. It also came with the 60,000 mi/lifetime power train warranty. The 8.9 rate seemed reasonable due to my credit score being mid 600's. 2 days later the finance office called me & said they couldn't get me approved for that rate & I would have to come back in to re-negotiate a higher rate which was 13.9. I asked them if they were serious or just crazy. They were serious. I told them they couldn't do that 'cause the contract was signed & I already had the vehicle. They would have to find a bank to offer me that financing at that 8.9 rate. They said they couldn't & it had to be re-negotiated. After already being angry about the lying of the sale price by the salesman, I was furious & told them I would be seeking my lawyers advice. I stopped payment on the check! I did seek lawyers advice & he told me what I already knew. I re-negotiate, I keep what's on the original contract, or I get my vehicle back. I chose to get my vehicle back. I left messages with City Kia for 2 days & received no return calls. The 3rd day I phoned the corporate office & got immediate action. They asked if I wanted to keep the Sportage or take my vehicle back. I wanted my vehicle back 'cause I heard of the we can get you the vehicle but "at a higher interest rate then agreed on" scam before. The corporate offices phoned the City Kia dealer then phoned me telling me to go pick up my vehicle & don't worry about the contract already signed. I was not obligated to re-negotiate & I could have my vehicle back. When I went to retrieve my vehicle, the "BIG" managers were all over me trying to make sure I was comfortable & accommodated. Good thing I phoned the corporate office & good thing they didn't sell my vehicle. Those guys must have been reamed by corporate for trying their little scam on someone who knows better. The finance advisor actually snuck outside to inform that there was a 39.50 charge for the stop payment I put on the check. I couldn't believe this "snake". I told him to mail me the bill so I could mail it to my lawyer & drove off. This scam happens all the time & I'm almost certain it happens at City Kia of Orlando often. Do not do business there. I'm sure they are scamming people in other ways too. You have been warned.
