I received a call on my cell phone stating that I needed to get in touch with a man with a strong accent named Adam. I was told not to ignore this call because it was time sensitive and would be given to their lawyer to proceed with prosecution efforts in the courts by the end of the day. When I returned the call I asked for Adam and could hardly understand what he was saying to me. He claimed I had received a payday cash loan advance in April of this year and had not paid it back. When the company attempted to retrieve the money, there were insufficient funds, he said. They supposedly made several attempts to contact me and retrieve the money they claim I owed them to no success. He informed me that now they had turned over the case to them to recover the loan. When I asked what amount the loan was for he said it was between $300 & $500. If I wanted to keep it from going to court I needed to make full restitution today by means of a prepaid card. Nevertheless, I ignored the call and waited to see if I heard from them again to see if this was a legitimate company making a erroneous claim.
A month and a half latter I got a call on my cell phone again. This time the voice sounded the same but he said his name was Alex Mathews and he was calling because I had a cash advance loan that I did not repay from Nov. 2009 of $300-$500. He said the company was now suing me for $5000 because I would not repay the loan. There was a way I could resolve this matter today if I would pay $572 with a prepaid credit card and a faxed letter to Alex Mathews giving him permission to access my prepaid card for $572, a photo ID and the last 4 numbers of my SSN. The fax number he gave me was 1-866-314-3807. The number he called from originally and left for me to return his call was 760-502-0203. After I informed him that I felt this was a scam and hung up he called my back several times. When I did not answer those calls, he called using a local number 486-3287. I hope this is enough information for you to investigate and stop this scam-er from operating in SC.
Thank you for your help in getting this SCAM out to the public so no one will be duped into sending their hard earned money to these artists to keep out of court or false lawsuits being brought against them
