City Kia of Orlando Complaint

City Kia is a Crook!! - 2006 Kia Sedona

- Florida - Orlando FL
I purchased a 2006 Kia Sedona at City Kia in Orlando in May of this year. We live in Belleview and decided to drive to Orlando in hopes of getting an established dealer with a lot of selection. This was the biggest mistake ever! I have bought 8 cars in my life. I have always had good experiences. I have owned Chevy, Ford, Chrysler and Subaru's. We now have 3 kids and decided it was time for a bigger vehicle. We heard about the Kia, that they had a great warranty and the sedona had plenty of room. When we went to Kia we found a van we liked and took it home that night. We put down a deposit of 1800.00 by check, they said they would deposit it at the end of May.

Since we live in Belleview I asked if they could deposit it so we didn't have to drive back there. They said yes. The van was missing the remote key locks but they said they were just locked up in the service area and would be ready when we came back in a week to sign all the papers. When we returned the gentleman that was helping with the paperwork talked about a maintenance agreement that would cover our van until 80,000 miles and would pay for any oil changes, tire rotations, etc. as long as we went to an ASE certified facility. They still didn't have the key locks but would mail them to us. So we paid 693.36 for the maintenance agreement. On 6/12/07 we were contacted asking when we were going to bring in the money for the deposit.

I told them I was confused, they should have already deposited it at the end of May. He said they hadn't if I could please bring in the cash. I said it was fine but I worked and couldn't come until Saturday 6/16. He said that was fine. On Friday I took out half the money because my ATM limits how much cash I take out in a day. I then took out the remainder on that Saturday and went to Orlando to give to them. Coincidentally I checked my checking account and found out I was over extended!!

Come to find out that they deposited the check and so the money was taken out twice! I went in and explained to them what they had done. He said he would pay any of the fees and was sorry about that, that they couldn't do anything since it was Saturday but Monday morning would get it corrected. They said they still didn't have the remote key locks but would mail them to me. Then the fun part began! I went to an ASE certified place to get my oil changed. They said that they didn't accept this company's maintenance agreement. So I didn't think too much about it and went to another company. This time I went to a major oil changing chain. They said that they didn't accept it either because they never would receive payment. I tried another down the street and was refused their also.

I called the dealership and explained that no one would honor the contract they sold me. He explained that I just need to call the maintenance company and they would tell me where I could go locally. When I called the maintenance company they explained that they never received the contract or payment from the dealership and that I didn't have a contract. So I called the dealership back again. They said that was not the case and would investigate. I continually called City Kia regarding my remote key locks, my reimbursement for over extending my checking account and the maintanence contract well into July (van purchased in May!!)They finally mailed me the key locks, they never found the original but sent me two that they had on hand, said I just needed to find someone local to activate them and they would reimburse me for the charges. I chose not to do that because they still hadn't reimbursed for my checking account so I again traveled all the way to Orlando to have them do it. At least the guys in their service department were nice. On 7/18/07 I was sent a refund check for the over draft fees on my checking account. This was only after calling daily and speaking with 5 different members of their staff. Finally someone helped me. So that just left the maintanence agreement. City Kia said it was valid, the maintanence company said it wasn't. This went round and round. I asked out of curiousity where I could go once they figured out the contract to find out the closest place to my home was an hour away! So I told them just to cancel it and refund the money. They said that they could do that and it would be refunded to the finance company that I used. I said that was fine. They said they would fax the documents to have that done. I called every other day and either got voicemai

Ms. Case,
I have recently become involved with the operation here at City Kia -- in part because of such incidents -- and am very concerned by such. I see this happened over a year ago, though
