CircuityCity.com falsely advertised merchandise with artificially reduced prices (electronics, in my case, SONY HDTV and BlueRay DVD product combo) to attract traffic to its site during the Thanksgiving period. I chose to order the products offered at CircuityCity.com over Amazon due to the price difference of ~$100. I received confirmation twice, one from its server and one from a sales representative after my call into the customer service after I placed my order. Five days later, when I called its customer service to check on the shipping status, I was told, to my surprise, by CircuityCity.com customer service representative that the order was cancelled by the company automatically due to lack of inventory (however I never received any notice from them about the cancellation), and I was offered with some other products with inferior features and higher prices. I declined the offer. Money was secondary, but this cost me the chance to bring in the products in time for the family to enjoy during the holiday season. From the comments I saw on some online forum, it seems CircuityCity.com's common practice to be dishonest and deceitful since the takeover by Systemax. During my conversation with the customer service rep, it seemed that he was never apologetic and never offered to make amends despite the obvious trouble his company's business practice has caused me and my family. I filed a complaint with BBB, and I am sure I am not the only one in this holiday season who has been cheated and taken advantage of by the dishonest merchandisers.
