Felician College Complaint

Christian Institution trying to scam single mom

- Lodi ,NJ
I attempted to get my BSN through an RN to BSN fast track program with Felician College. The program started on 10/4/10. It was two classes per semester, one day week every Monday from 8am-6pm. I took the 10/4/10 and the 10/18/10 class. On 10/11/10 was Columbus day, and therefore was no school. In between those dates I spoke to one of the advisors, either by email or in person and told them that I was going to stick it out and that I wanted to continue the program. After attending the 10/18/10. I had a breakdown. I am a single mom and care for my children by myself emotionally, financially and physically. At that time my children were 4 and 12 years old. They were acting out, and I was getting calls from their teachers about bad behavior. Around October 23,2010 I emailed the academic advisor to let her know I needed to drop out of the program. I got confirmation back from her and all that was said was that she was sorry to hear I was dropping out. I was not told or advised that I needed to fill out any forms or that if I dropped out I would still be liable for the full price of the course. Felician College has been harassing me since April 2011 when they told me I owed them $3440.00. They have sent me letters that my account will go to collections. Then when they saw I was disputing it they switched the story around saying that I told the advisor that I was sticking it out, and they will only charge me half which is $1720.00. I have told them on several occasions that I would be more than happy to pay the amount of time that I was in class. $3440.00 divided by 8 weeks of class is $430.00. I will pay $860.00. The classes are originally 7 weeks long, which makes that $982.00. I will also pay that. On 10/17/11 I got a call from a collection agency and now my credit is ruined. Look what this academic advisor did to me? What is her job description?
