I had just bought 4 new tires for my f150 ford truck about700.00 dollars. I noticed there was a carwash at this location chevron. Since most have closed down to remodel they are hard to find. I pumped my gas the pump informed me I got a bonus credit toward a carwash.
So I paid 5.00 dollars to receive a premium carwash. I got a premium bonus alright. We drove up to the carwash my 13 yr old daughter and myself. We drove in since carwashs are all different some you drive between rails some you go up I wasn't alarmed. But then we realized we were on the same rail as the main carwash apparatus and if it activated it would be coming right at us! My daughter was hysterically frightened! I backed out since we couldn't go forward. When my tire was ruptured. Ate.
I noticed then that there was supposed to be a pipe bolted to the floor.That was supposed to guide us into the carwash. It was completely broke off and missing. I went into the store the clerk came out looked and said you were supposed to go between the cones. From the outside of the carwash the cone was not visible it was pushed back behind the wall where you enter. The clerk did not ask if we were ok. If there was anything he could do he just ran inside. I asked for the owner info.
He just told me the owner would be here tomorrow no info to give me. I called Katy police they came out and told me there was nothing they could do. Hot and irritated I snapped at the officer why the dispatcher didn't tell me. He thought I was being rude. But I was irritated to waste his time. When someone else might have a emergency and need his assistance. He was so nice he changed my tire and got us on our way.
Before leaving I went into the store and said so your not going to close the carwash down or put something out there to inform people the carwash was damaged and could damage their vehicles or worse. He said no. They did nothing to help they knew it was like that. I am only thankful that it didn't activate and push us out the carwash. You can expect antenna problem or mirror etc. But that was too much that was intentional neglect we could of seriously been injured had it come on. No more gas station carwashes for us.
Shouldn't it be mandatory for owners to check these carwashes when they open? And how is it no ones liable. My daughter was terrified and all so they could make a 5.00 sale!!! I am appalled that after our experience this carwash was left as is for the next woman and child.....
