I purchase airfare online for roundtrip air from San Diego to Costa Rica at a cost of $674. First leg was good. 2nd leg I was stranded at the San Jose, Costa Rica airport. I had an e ticket to come home on Frontier Airline. (the ticket was issued by American) I stood in line for 30 minutes at the Frontier counter and they said I was not in their system. So, I stepped to the AA counter right next to Frontier. I waited in line for 10 minutes, showed the American Rep. my e ticket and she said that all was o. k. She then printed an actual ticket. I took it back to Frontier, and after a 15 minute wait in line was told that they still did not have me in the system. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she told me she was the supervisor. I then went back to the American counter; stood in line and spoke to the representative again. She said she could not help me. I asked if I could buy a ticket to get home and she said yes; but I had to stand in line for that. I stood in line for another 15 minutes and when I got to the front of the line the tickets were all sold. The only ticket availabe for me was for the next day; unless I wanted to fly with connection in NYC, but theref was a snowstorm on that day in NYC. I paid $520 for a ticket home. When I got home I disputed the charge, asking for $520 credit on my B of A mastercard. They immediately gave the credit. 60 days later they took back $301 of the credit; saying American was only willing to allow me $209 for half of my $674 ticket. I complained on the phone repeatedly about 4 times. Finally B of A offered me additional $50, I declined. She then offered $65; I declined. She then declared she was giving me a credit of $130. This is still $170 short of making me whole. Plus, I was offered nothing for reimbursement for one night in a hotel and my food. The hotel cost was about $150... I have receipts for everything except food. I was treated unfairly here and Mastercard sided with American Airlines, who did not deliver air travel I had paid for. This is unfair and I am very upset at this corporate dishonesty and shabby treatment.
