I intiated a wire transfer from an out of state bank for myself to myself at Chase Bank in Houston Tx in the amount of $2000, that was deposited into the wrong account, this was done on July 28th, 2011, as per the wire transfer instruction the money was from me as originator to me as beneficiary, however there was one number left off of the account and the money was deposited into some one else's account at Chase Bank. I was told by Chase Bank that they "Do not read the wire instructions they just look for the matching of the account numbers" and even though there were 2 amendments to the wire transfer one on the day it occurred and a second on the 29th in addition to a recall of the funds, they are still persistent in holding my funds in someone else's account in which they know is an error which Chase has acknowledged, so far I have filed a compliant with the Office of the Comptroller, and spoken with more than 4 people in the wire department as well as 4 people in the Executive Office of Chase Banks all with the answer they are investigating the matter, in addition they are well aware of the the error and refuse to return the funds in a timely manner, I was told that they had to contact this party that the funds were erroneous deposited and I was last told that he/she is on vacation and this person or person have acknowledged verbally that the funds are not his/hers and as soon as they are able to, will come into the branch and sign some type of authorization, but they have no time line as to when this will occur. In the meantime I don't have access to my funds and they will not release them. In the meantime I am told by Chase Bank there is nothing they can do about the error, except they are still investigating it. Also they will not respond to the sending Bank and no one has taken the time to return calls from this Mega Bank. I asked what if this person never comes into the bank to sign these papers that you have for them to sign and I was told by one of their supervisors that I might have seek remedies outside of the Bank, how can that be when they are well aware of the money being deposited erroneously and the person who is an account holder can just take the money and use it at will with no consequences...There is then total silence from Chase Bank. These kind of banking practices need to be exposed. And Chase Bank needs to know that they have to follow Banking industry laws set forth by the regulatory agencies
