In February of this year I was online and saw an advertisement for a "free" sample of "tooth whitening" products. (Turned out to be a small tube of toothpaste and a gel.) You were required to pay about $5 for S&H and I stupidly gave them my debit card to pay. Took >2 weeks to receive and when I saw it, I realized it was not something I would use. While reviewing my checking account, I found 2-payments to CW for $149.95 and $87.47. I called and was told that since I didn't cancel w/in 2 weeks, I was now enrolled in their program and it was non-refundable. I explained that I hadn't even rec'd the product in 2 weeks, had no intention of using it and I still had the unopened boxes. Their response was that I should have called w/in the 2 weeks to cancel, but if I returned both to CW, 3609 N 29th Ave, H'Wood, FL 33020, (which I did via certified mail), I could get a refund. I wasn't told that the 2 products were from separate companies, both named Celebrity White (uh-huh!), until after I returned them. I've pretty much given up on the $149.95 as I sent both products to the $87.47 CW company and I can't get them to return the "other" company's product. I've called the company about 8 times (you stay on hold for about 25 min's, then talk to a heavily accented representative on a line that echoes whatever you're saying before being told to hold for another 10 min's). Each time they assure me that my refund is in the works and I should see it in "2-3 days", "7-10 days", well, you get the idea. It is now the end of October and I still haven't seen a refund. Too late, I checked the BBB and found a HUGE number of unresolved complaints and found that the company(ies?) may be based in the Middle East. For someone like myself who is counting change to pay the electric bill, $237.42 seems like a lot of money for a sample sized tube of toothpaste that I don't even have anymore.
