Back in April of 2007 we signed up with Cedar Signature Homes, a home developer just like KB homes. The developer uses Contractors to perform and finance their job. We performed a small tile labor/material project in the amount of $5,502.17 back in April of 2007 and as of today we have been given the run around on payment, to my surprise I am not the only contractor out of pocket. It seems that Cedar Signature Homes owes many other contractors.
Vedar Signarue Homes is a big company that has several projects throughout California, I don't know if all the other projects are run the same. I have repeatedly requested that we get paid, but all I get is that the bank is delaying our payment (4 months), how is that? How long does it take for the bank to draw a check? We have been speaking to the Senior Project Manager, Martin, the rudest person I ever met, no professionalism at all, used foul language and not helpful at all, I really don't know how Cedar Signature Homes conducts their interviews or if this is one of their requirements (to be rude and unprofessional).
Today Mr Teachnor advised that the owner of Cedar Signature Homes died in a plane crash and that he did not know when we would get paid. This is after 4 months that they advised that our company was in the bank draw. All we want is to get paid, we even went to the extent as to processing a lien on the property, but so did other companies, so they don't really care.
What else can I do to get paid? I have tried to be nice and professional, but they leave me no choice but to fight back, these type of companies need to have a license to build, as they are not contractors, they do not have a license and they rely on license contractors. I would like for this story to be known so that other contractors are aware of this company.
