On a July 13, 2008, cruise on the Carnival Destiny, we had the worst vacation experience ever. Embarkation was delayed 3 hours with no explanation and a lack of adequate accommodations. Our cabin was dirty, in disarray, and infested with bugs. Complaints were dismissed. We recorded video of the infestation to show the extent of the problem and was offered two inadequate options at 3am. Option 1 was to depart for home at the next port at our own expense. Option 2 was to spend one night in a cabin of guests who would arrive the next morning. The ship was at capacity and no actionables were in place for emergency situations. After continuous problems with the cruise throughout the week, the only compensation was a $200 check and $75 onboard credit that we were told had to be used that night on that ship or it would be voided. We refused to use the money nor cash the check and decided to appeal to Guest Relations. Their response was $50 onboard credit that must be used within 18 months of the letter on their cruise ships. I feel very mistreated and disgusted with the lack of customer service at Carnival Cruise Lines. I plan on letting the world see the video of the infestation on the ship. I have voided there check and after 9 years of cruising with them will never cruise with them again.
