As a customer of Direct TV for five years, every time I called with a question or problem I got a different answer. So when we were planning to move Nov, 2010, I contacted DISH and found the same problems. So called Direct TV and told them I was considering switch to Dish because they were offering "HD for Life Free". The "supervisor" told me "I can do that". After choosing all of the services and features, I reviewed the costs, etc with him THREE times before concluding the conversation. They claim to have NO WAY to confirm to you in writing what they agreed to. You don't know until you get your first bill a month later. At that time I found I was only going to get HD service for free for "12 months". I appealed all the way to the "office of the president" and was told "there is no way we can give you that". Another lie as the previous person had just told me it is only for "new customers".
In addition, during the last year that I had had the service at my old address they knew that I was unable to receive the HD Signal but continued to charge me every month.
