Safe Guard Property Preservation Complaint

I am behind on my mortgage and in process of approval for short sale in an effort to make good with the bank. I went away for a week and came home to a new lock on my fron door, personal property stolen and a note from Safe Guard preservation that my property was found to be abandoned and so they changed my locks on me. I am not close to foreclosure yet per the bank but this company busted out a window, entered my property and stole personal property and when I made a police report, I was told this kind of thing happens often. What if I would have been home? What would have happened then?
