On 10-4-07 I purchased propane from Blue Flame of Hillsdale for $1.79.9 per. gallon on January 29, 2008 I had them come refill I was shocked to see the price had climbed to $329.9 per gallon. At first I thought it might be a billing error so I called the company rep. I was told that since crude hit $100.00 a barrel the price had gone crazy.
This increase represent's over an 80% increase in less than four months, in a time when we're all watching the gas pumps I feel some of us are being gouged even worse by hitting the one item we have to have in Michigan and that's heat for our homes.
I compared the price of Blue Flame with the State Chart average for propane and found them to be $1.00 over average in Michigan. Think of the poor people who are jobless or retired living on a strict fixed income and tell me what product can justify this size of an increase in such a short period of time ?
I'd love to see the media start monitoring these heat suppliers, since there are no Government regulations and no exposure through media, it appears they can do whatever they like. Sadly the impact is hardest on the one's who can afford it the least.
