On May 7 2010, I received a solicitation over the phone from a company called PROGRESSIVE MOVERS, INC. located in Paterson NJ. They offered me a rate of $70.00/hour, with 3 men, to move the contents of a 1 bedroom apartment. It sounded fair, I was given an estimate of 5 hours, since they afirmed they they knew exactly where to go, that their crew was very experienced and so on. This was told to me by a man called SAM. They actually have a location on 11th Ave in Paterson, between 5th and 6th avenues. Two individuals, SAM and GREG, sit there luring trustworthy hard working people to their web of deceit. Even though my contract says the move happened on the 13, they only showed up on the 14th (Friday). Instead of showing up between 8 and 9 AM, they show up at 10.15. A driver named (C)SID, and two helpers, one of them called PHIL. The other I could not get the name. If these are really their names. This Driver (SID), has me signing "basic procedural" pages, because of insurance regulations etc. I did, in haste because now I was getting charged 70 dolars an hour, and these were probably 10 pages. These guys were taking forever to load some very basic stuff on they truck, frequently taking smoking breaks, and talking on the phone, while SID spent "diligent" time wraping my furniture. I asked him why he was doing that, since it appeared to be very incovenient for me as I was under an hourly contract. He said they had to do it, because if it wasn't done, they would not be able to move my belongings. Well, as it was already running late, I figured this would cost me about a couple of hours more, but to my surprise, when we got finally to the destination, this driver SID from Saddle Brook New Jersey, gives me a bill on a scrap paper in the amount of $3,612.38. This bill interestingly enough, is presented by a company called ABC PACKING SUPPLIES INC. located at 282 N. MAIN STREET, LODI NJ, with a phone number (973)272 8272, even though 90% of the contents of the house had been previously packed by my wife, myself and my daughters. If I didn't pay this amount they would not take my belongings from the truck. To my astonishment, they charged me exhorbitant amounts for the tape they used the bubble wrap and shrink plastic, never solicited by me, or even not explained that I "had to pay for", but goes to the extreme of charging $300.00 because they had to go up stairs, and $150.00 for a "long walk", which was the paved path they had to walk on, since the truck could not go inside my apartment. I called the local police to no avail. And though the office manager SAM, told me the name of the owner was CONSTANTIN IGAROV, when the police officers in an effort to assist me got somebody that was supposed to be the owner on the phone, he introduced him self as KENNY. This character KENNY, offered me a settlement. If I advanced about $1100.00 in cash, he would unload my mattress so I had something to sleep on. The rest would be taken to storage until I paid the balance. I could not afford it. I was being held hostage and my personal belongings, held for ramson. They still have it. What I can not understand, is on top of everything else, RENT. COM continues to patronize these con artist. Thieves that act behind some shiels the law allows them to have, and the consumer has no defense or protection. To consider only normal, that an estimate of 350 dolars jumps to $3612.33,while holding one's belongings in their truck, is not just offensive, it is the absolute negation of the American Way. Well, according to this owner, KENNY/ CONSTANTIN IGAROV, this is the American Way. So I will be making my voice heard, as I can not fight otherwise. I simply do not have the means to do it. I trusted these people with family photo albums, and personel family heirlooms whose value goes far beyond a dolar sign. They should be sued and convicted, yet they walk freely, taking advantage of hard working law abiding people like ourselves every day. And do it remorseless and impunitively.
