My story starts when I received a $100 coupon card in the mail for from Chase. I took the card to Chase inside my neighborhood grocery store to take advantage of the offer. I was informed that I would have to make a deposit in order to open an account. I didn't have any money at the time so I said I would come back when I did.
On May 5th during our lunch break some co-workers and I noticed a Chase near-by had a $75 promotional offer for new accounts. We went in to set up our accounts, my banker advised me that there was still a coupon under my name for $100 that I could take advantage of by depositing $100 and setting up direct deposit. I said sure to an extra $25.
My direct deposit went through and I noticed that the extra $100 I was expecting was never put in my account. I asked my co-workers if they received their promo money and they had. My concerns sent me back into the brach for explaination but my banker was on vacation and no one could help me.
After a week and a half my banker gets back but is so busy with other customers it takes another 3 days to sit down and discuss my situation. She tells me that when I originally went in to Chase with no money an account was opened under my name, this tells me the funds should have been appied to the original account but instead she opened a second account, excluding me from both promotions.
I spoke with the original branch manager, which was new, and he confirmed along with customer service reps that an account can not be opened without funds deposited. The second branch manager said their was now a negative balance from the unauthorized account I knew nothing about. On top of all this I set up overdraft protection yet have overdraft fees.
I feel mislead and brushed off. I love my job. I'm a Chase employee.
