My dad, who is 83 years old moved in to a fairly new apartment complex called Towne Centre Apartments. He has lived there for 4 months. About 3 weeks ago he began getting bites on his body. He thought they were mosquitoes. He even went to the doctor about the bites. The bites turned out to be bed bugs. He captured a few bugs and showed them to the Orkin Exterminator guy who verified that it is bed bugs. He also told my dad several other people in the same complex are experiencing the same thing. My dad and other tenants have tried repeatedly to get in touch with the land lord, Mr. Fries. He does not come into his office at all, any time you call any of the numbers he has listed the voice mail is always full. My dad ended up spending almost $600 for Orkin to spray for bugs. If there is a bed bug problem in this complex the bugs are only going to go from apartment to apartment. My dad is retired and on social security. He can not afford this problem. The land lord should be held responsible. What can we do?
