On 3/17/11 I was notified that BofA paid my property taxes and insurance. Odd! I pay them and have not been delinquent. I called B of A to inquire and was told that all modification requests are assigned an impound account. What? I requesed a modification October 2009 and was declined for non-qualification of which I have a letter from B of A dated June 8, 2010. No other correspondence took place about the modification, it was over. Nine months later I have a negative balance impound account $4,595.68 because I was not part of establishing it, paying into it or authorizing. Since March I have spend countless hours on the phone to straighten it out. BofA got a refund in the amount of $1,178.28 from my insurance carrier. That reduced the negative amount. Finally I get told that they cannot cancel the impound account until there is a zero balance in the account. They've charged me fees and late charges because of their screw ups. My May mortgage payment which was paid April 29, 2011 and clearly marked as a P&I payment was applied to the negative impound account. Now BofA are relentlessly pursuing me because they say I didn't make my May payment. The impound is now negative $160.80 wow. But now they will report the non-payment to the credit bureau. I got to talk to someone in the escrow department and was given more bankobabble. There is lots to this story and it keeps getting worse because of BofA errors. I don't know how to get them to stop the "scripted" answers and get out of the box and undo their mistakes. I'm at the end of my rope, I'm stressed out, I'm not sure what's going to happen next and I feel powerless. Can you help me? Thank you.
