I saw an ad on Craigslist.com for a 93 Honda Accord. The perpetrators sold the car to me and ASSURED me that there were no oil leaks or other mechanical problems with it. The exact words used were \"It\'s my word that nothing is wrong with this car. There is definitely no oil leak.\" I drove to GA from NC to take a look at the car in hopes that it was in good condition. I was making the purchase to give the car to my son. When I arrived in GA, I met with [names removed] to view the car. Overall, the car looked great. However, I should have known that something was up when I opened the hood, Chet quickly pointed out that the engine was clean so there couldn\'t possibly be any oil leaks (before I even asked about the oil leak). Anyway, I told him that I was looking to buy a car for my son and needed to drive it back to NC. He kept giving me his word that this car was in excellent condition and would have no problem making it to NC. Well, I did end up buying the car from these guys and driving it back to NC. On the way to NC, the engine began to give off a lot of smoke. I initially thought that the smoke was from whatever agent Chet & Scott used to clean the engine off. I pulled over to a rest area and let the car sit for a while until the smoke settled down. I then got back on the road destined for NC. I wanted to call [names removed] on my mobile phone, but I realized that I had not charged my phone in a couple of days and the battery was going dead. So, I made it back to NC the next day (that\'s how many times I had to stop with the car) and immediately took the car to have it inspected. The mechanic told me that the car was smoking because there was a MAJOR oil leak. He walked me underneath the car so that I could see the leak with my own eyes. The oil leak was not new. There was heavy build up of old and new oil under the engine. The oil started around the front of the car and traveled down to the back of the car and landed on the muffler pipe. I immediately called [names removed] on the telephone and told him that I was bringing the car back to him because he LIED. I told him that a mechanic just looked at the 93 Honda Accord and showed me the major oil leak. Chet's response was "there's no way that there is an oil leak. I showed you the motor when we opened the hood." I told him that there was no way I could see the oil leak from the top of the engine. He still didn\'t believe me, so I put the mechanic on the telephone with him. The mechanic went into detail and explained to him that the oil leak was something that happened a long time ago because of all of the buildup. The mechanic also told him that the oil leak was very big because oil was dripping out of the car as we spoke. I got back on the phone with Chet and he apologized for that and said that he would pay for half of the bill for the oil leak repairs. Although I wanted him to pay for the entire bill because he lied and \"gave his word\" that the car had no leak, I agreed to him paying half of the bill. So, I left the car with the mechanic who has also worked on Hondas for the past 28 years. I was called today by the mechanic with the estimate of how much it would cost to get the oil leak fixed. I immediately called [names removed] to let him know the total amount so he could pay his half of the bill. I told him the total amount for the oil leak (because there are several oil leaks) which was approx $1000, and he said that there was no way that the car had an oil leak like that. So again, I put the Honda mechanic on the phone so that he could explain to [names removed] exactly what he found when he looked at the engine. The mechanic told me that [names removed] was very defensive and rude and said that he was not going to pay for the services because there was no way that the car had a leak. The mechanic then handed me the phone and said that [names removed] hung up on him. I called [names removed] back several times and he did not answer the telephone. These people, [names removed], need to be exposed!!! They are frauds and their word is nothing. There reputation needs to be exposed for what it is.....HORRIBLE! I am very displeased and angry and really don't know what else to do. The car was sold As-IS so I am not sure if there is anything I can do about it. But I definitely want to make others aware of this business and these guys.
