All of my credit cards and ID were stolen from my purse on Friday evening of a 3 day holiday weekend. I was able to cancel all of the accounts except one. I called and waited for the customer service ....someone who barely spoke English answered some 15 + minutes later and informed me that since I didn't know the card number (remember, I am away from home and my card has been stolen) I couldn't cancel the account until I paid the over limit charges on the account. I couldn't access it by internet because it kept saying that the information I was entering was incorrect. (My mother's maiden name has never changed, I had the correct social security number, but I didn't have the card number because I didn't have the card !!!...Remember, it was stolen a few hours prior.) Of course, this foreigner would not accept payment except by ATM card via phone and all my ATM cards were also stolen !! So even if I had wanted to comply with his demand to pay the over the limit charges...charges that I could not verify because I did not have my card number memorized....I had nothing to do it with since my ATM cards were also gone...and it was a holiday weekend.
Nearly a week later, I know my payment is due, but I cannot make the usual on-line payment, I am told my password cannot be reset to allow payment because I reported it stolen AND I am facing exorbitant over limit fees for something I cannot even verify.
I do not want my credit rating ruined. I just spent the past 10 years trying to build/re-build it after my divorce.
Is there any help out there ? All my other credit cards were very polite and helpful....they canceled the accounts and sent me new cards with new account numbers in less than 5 days. Clearly this is only a problem with AspireCard.
