We listed our furniture for sale on a news website's classified section. Soon we were emailed with an offer $200.00 more than our asking price. Pictures of the merchandise were sent to the "buyer" who then replied with a "too good to be true?" offer. They wanted to pay us $200 more than what we asked in return for us to cash a cashier's/money order check for 4 times the asking price. The reason, they said, was because the payee owed them money. We have quickly denied this transaction to avoid a potential devastating loss. Were we correct in doing this? Has this happened to anyone else?
