My mother is a senior citizen and has lived in these apartments for less than 2 years and it has flooded 3 times just in the last 18 months. This time was the worse. It overflowed from the bathroom into two of my bedrooms and my living room...pretty disgusting. The last time it happened in August 2010, my mother started calling them on August 4, 2010 and they kept telling her that she was on some 72 hour wait list, even though she said she could not sleep in her room and that walls were molding and it was a hazard to her health with a history of cancer. It was when I took pictures, emailed the attorney general, and Houston Apt Association and sent the apartment managers copies of everything via certified mail, then they responded to my mother. The manager quickly came over with the maintenance man. This time it happened on Sunday evening and this apt complex does not have an emergency or answering service. We called several times today and got no answer. So my mother slept in a soak and wet apartment, with bathtubs and toilets flooded. She was afraid to leave, thinking the rest of her furniture would get damaged like before. Pipes are busted outside and the ground outside is also flooded. This apartment management does not respond in a timely manner, so we know that my mom will have to come and stay with one of us for the rest of the week. My moms lease is up this week (THANK GOD!!), but we feel that these apartment people should reimburse some of her rent money back from this month that she already paid and her boxes got wet, TV stand got wet, bed and dressers also got wet. What can we do about this?
