On January 2008, we signed a contract with Americas Best Meats for a delivery of food and a Permasteel BBQ grill. The food delivery took place on March 2008, due to us going on vacation for the whole month of February. When the salesman came to our house he told us that in order to take advantage of the low price on the meat and groceries we needed to either get their freezer or buy something else from their list. Being that we already have a freezer we opted for the BBQ grill, they were offering. The grill was delivered sometime in the beginning of February, while we were away, and was never used until April. When I started to use it, the back burner wasn't working. I placed a call to ABM asking for a repair man. It took several phone calls and weeks before a repairman came to "fix" it. The repairman told me that he needed to order a part and in the meantime he was going to do a "bridge" so I could use it. Bottom line...the burner did not work. In June the hose that goes from the gas tank to the unit, broke. I called ABM and ordered the part (for which I'm still waiting for) and I also reminded them of the part for the burner. After several phone calls, Gary, supposedly the manager in that location, hang up on me twice. In July, while BBQ'g, when I try to open the cover the whole thing came off from one side and burned my arm, fortunately my son was near by and we were able to hold the cover and avoid a catastrophe. The cover is twisted on one side. Finally, after fighting with them countless times, the repairman showed up sometime in August only to fix the back burner, still no hose, and he also told me that he had nothing to do with the replacement of the cover. More phones calls and arguments ensued, interrupted by Gary's, total lack of manners and professionalism. When they calculated that I was running out of food they called me to tell me that, Chuck, the salesman was coming over to my house to deliver the cover of the grill. When he came, I told him that I was not going to place anymore orders with them due to the way we have been treated. He left without putting the cover in the unit. On October 30th, Angela that is one of the sales people called to tell me that on Monday, November 3rd they were coming to deliver the cover and also to take my order for the holidays. One more time I told her that I was not going to place anymore orders with them. 11/3 Gary called me to tell me that they were delivering the cover and also to take my order. When I told him I was not going to order any food from them, he said to me "no order, no cover" and hang up. When I called him back he refused to come to the phone. I spoke to Angela again and told her that if they didn't deliver the cover I was going to take this matter further. The worse part of all this is that we are paying for the one delivery of meat, groceries and the grill a total of USD 9,587.80. The grill alone is costing us $7,048.80. When I asked them for an itemized invoice, because I wanted to know how much I was paying the pound of meat, they told me that they do not break down the price per pound, that is when we realized that we have made a mistake and we were dealing with a non reputable company. Fact that was confirmed over and over again by the way we were treated. We toyed with the idea of stopping payment on the grill, but we do not want to hurt our credit. I wish there was a way for them to pick up the grill and not have to pay for it. But at this point I want them to fix it. I also want them to be held accountable for their actions. Therefore, I have filed a complain with the Attorney General of New York State and the BBB.
I would love for you guys to expose this company for the scam they are pulling on unsuspecting, honest, hard working people.
I will appreciate very much your attention to this matter.
sincerely,
Mrs Anamaria Quick
