American Airlines Complaint

American Airlines misleads the public - Deceptive advertising - Fare Gouging

On 27 August we booked two flights from NYC (JFK) to Tortola on 25 January 2012. The fare was $722.60 for each ticket (total $1445.20).

On 22 September we received an e-mail announcing a sale on Caribbean fares and offering fares for the same flights noted above for $554.60. This represents a savings of $168 for each ticket – a total savings of $336.

When we contacted reservations for a refund, we were advised that there would be a $150 charge for each ticket thereby eliminating any savings.

I feel that this is not only unreasonable but that it represents deceptive advertising and borders on consumer fraud.

I believe that we should receive a refund for the difference between what we paid and the current price being offered.
