I bought a round-trip airline ticket on COPA airlines through an internet website owned by IntraTours for $588.70, departing on 6/16/10. I called and let them know in advance that I would not be able to make the flight. They told me I had up to a year to use the ticket. I called a short time after that and again was told I had up to a year to use the ticket.
I tried to re-book the flight with the same itinerary just recently through COPA and was told I would have to pay $700 in penalties. I talked to another reservation agent at COPA and was told the penalties were over $700. Now one of the COPA agents told me because I am re-booking over 60 days from the original travel date that I am going to have to pay this high a penalty no matter what dates I travel; Another COPA agent told me the penalties would be this high because I was rebooking 30 days from the original travel date.
This was never in writing, nor was it ever explained to me when I cancelled. I don't think it's fair that I am paying even more for the penalties than I did for the original fare, and yet all I am changing is the date! I am also flexible about the dates. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, none was ever available. Could you please help me?!!
