Aaron's Rent to own Complaint

Stay Away From Rent To Own

My wife and I purchased a 61' TV. from Aaron's Rentals in longview Tx. on June 15th 2006 on lopp 281 , we paid for a partial month with a in-store coupon that made this transaction good for a full month 2 weeks 3 days later we started receiving phone calls from location wanting a payment and on July the 8th came to pickup said item. My wife and I went to location and the store clerk stated it was there mistake because the store coupon was never posted to the account in there computer system. At tis time my wife and I was going out of town and gave the store clerk our cell phone number to call when they were in route to re-deliver and no one ever called , and we all know cellphones shows missed calls and itimized cellphone bills shows all calls to and from phone. This is just my story just think of how many of us there is that gets done this way and lets it go . Be aware of rent-to-own locations.

I like to add I was a single parent and in the military. Well I got an upright freezer from Aarons and the more I paid on it the higher the bill went. I was never going to pay it off, I thought that you pay on it every two weeks and the price will go down, well theirs kept going up. So, I called them and ask them to come get it and they told me they was going to sue me. So, yes please stay away from Aarons especially the one in Lawton Ok and any Rent to own

My story is as bad. i brought a washer and dryer set, it took them 4 different attempts to bring out set to us, each time with a diffent eexcuse three weeks later the washer went out when they finally came and got it , may i add the set was paid off too. it took us 6 months of hassing them to bring out washer back and they would not bring us a loader. well i though that two can play at this game i rent own a tv and did not paid for it and let them reprosess from us but in our down fall the washer went out again and now even after buting extented warranty they will not honor it , so i have a washer that year and half old and dont work, plus management cussed us out.

Don't give them any credit cards because they charge it with out autorization. I let my niece use my account. I put her money in and we gave the numbers to Aaron. Month later another payment was taken out of the account. Now to get it back I have to drive to the next state so they can run my card

As a business selling something to a local Aarons/Rimco we even had problems. I can only imagine how it is to deal with them as a customer.

They asked for a quote for a service which was half of what the new item would cost. They gave the wrong product number, but wanted that price even they knew it was un-realistic. After wrangeling around they finally agreed to do 50% of the lowest found internet price.

Then they wouldn't pay. They would say they have the check, then we would go to their location it wasn't there. It took them two months to pay their own bill. Looking at the comments this rent to own location played the same games with a local bussiness, as they do their hapless customers.

One would to have a low set of morals and values to run this type of business.

I have bought a bed room set and a 48 inch tv from Aaron's and never had a problem. As a matter of fact we were a month behind on our tv payment. Aaron's drove all the way to our house with a new contract making our payment $30.00 cheeper a month. And the month that we where behind they only made us pay half a month so we could be caught up. We are getting ready to buy a mower from them. We called ahead to ask if they could work a deal on a riding mower. We can not afford $99.00 a month. They told us to get online pick one out and they will make our payments in the price range that we can afford. I really have never had a problem out of Aaron's

I have lease a 52" TV after about 9 months the tv went out the tv was still under warrenty. Aaron came to pick it up atfer two weeks. They gave a loaner two weeks after with house roaches ya roaches. They came back and took the tv to another house for leasing. After 4mos, I have not seen my tv but they are asking for payments. On top of that they are trying to make me pay for the loaner 2. They have a new GM who is not a good fit for this company. She will not let her customer get a word in. Well if they want the loaner where is my TV. We only have 5 more payments. I think that when I get my TV back thats when you get your payment and loaner back. With everything going on in life I dont need to here excuses from no one. We all need to keep our jobs but this one she will be out the door very soon. If anyone could tell me where or who to talk to reply. Thanks just looking for some help.

Yeah! Aarons sucks so much Im renting a tv from them and called them to take it in for repair so they took it 5 wks. and brought it back exactly the same with the same problem of yellow spots in the corners and black spots so I have a Tv that looks like it has lepors disease.

Wow, so I was looking for an Aarons close to where my friend is moving to so he could get an apartment till his house in OKC sells and I find this complaint. Then I scroll down to find more complaints. Amazingly I don't see one story from a person who has worked RTO (rent to own). Until now, I worked RTO for 5 years in the OKC metro area. I heard and saw it all. Those roaches that came crawling out of a TV came from an apartment much like yours only under tons of waste. RTO customers are a unique group. The company is trying to "screw them" by charging more than the item is worth. Your told this on day one before you sign anything and can walk away. They dont "prey" on people they offer a service to people that are unwilling to wait for an item. Layaway is good for purchasing electronics and appliances, save your money and pay cash. Craigslist is a good alternative to buying new furniture, the furniture at most RTO's is used anyway. Your washer that broke down after a year and a half, it wasn't a year and a half old, it was with you for that time, it was with the company for much longer. As you read this and think wow what an ass I want you to know I agree with you on the statement that RTo is a rip off, your right it is. Here is a thought for you, at 8:00 in the morning saturday morning I was out knocking on doors of people that were 2 and 3 weeks past due on something they agreed to pay on, I was threatened, spit on, had guns and knives pulled on me, had a woman in a car try to hit me in a parking lot, had cutomers that ran into me in public with my family cuss me in front of my kids. The people that work RTO deal with the absolute worst society has to offer for very little pay. Why they do the job is for the challenge of tracking down someone who wants something for nothing. Good luck with that. RTO is geared towards the society of people that want something now and dont want to wait for it. Instant gratification or people that want to impress others with their new 72 inch flat screen, get real!

Posted by spate69 on 06/22/2009
i agree with d_laffoon. if you can't afford it then save. do you really need a 60 inch tv or a playstation 3? and if you have the item and don't pay when YOU said you were, then of course they are gonna call because you have their stuff. it's pretty simple.

A couple of years ago, I worked as an auditor at Aaron Rents. Talk about a jacked up corporate structure...but that's not why I'm commenting.

I saw a few comments about stores charging your credit card without authorization. I can tell you from experience that many times store employees retain your credit card information in the point of sale system and it's not encrypted or protected so anyone can get to it.

They're not supposed to do it, but the regional managers didn't care. Store and regional managers' bonuses depended on collecting money and having your card on file was just another way to make sure they got money from you whether you could pay it or not.

That's a disaster waiting to happen. Their point of sale system is so old and antiquated (think 1992-1993 and runs on DOS) that they would have no idea if someone stole your information from their system.

They had outside auditing companies come and audit our systems, but those guys were clueless. You can't walk in the door, spend 2 days looking over my shoulder, and have a good enough grasp of what we're doing to point out flaws and issues that need to be fixed.

That's not to say that every store and every employee is out to rip you off, but you can't tell which ones are just by looking at them. It's better to pay in cash...they can only screw you a little that way.

My husband and I had bancrupcy and had no lines of credit. So, I bought a lap top at a Aarons rent to own...it should say..rent so it can break down directly after warranty center... or shall i say...we buy cheap crap and sell it to u for a astronomical price. I didnt mind paying a arm and a leg, escpecially if it wouldve helped me renew my credit...My big complaint is, that what they are selling is crap. I have never dropped my pc, never let my son on it in fear of him breaking the mouse and/or dont use it for heavy use...and YET after a year and a half, they now tell me it is my mother board and it is thrashed...so for the good price of 400 they can fix it...WOW are u serious? SO, do i thank aarons for screwing me or selling me crap? yes i do...i blame them..i need someone to blame...if they bought and sold "good" product i wouldnt be complaining... i just think its immorally wrong to screw the american buyer...but HELL thats what this world is coming to, immoral business... I hope when u visit the pearly gates, GOD gives it to u big time and all ur share holders...

They just charge a payment to my charge card without my permission. Only give them cash if you are dealing with themat all. I am in Fairfield CA and pissed. I have cancelled my card and been issued another one of course.

i bought a 57 inch tv from them and before it was a year old the lamp went out, like the other person it sat there for months and they wanted there payment still, well i pay for awhile then i really go nasty and told them if it was your tv you would be piss off and they did keep saying well we let you use one till it fix,i told him i have a 57 inch tv and i have to sit here and watch the smaller one, then i call and he said i thought it was fix and i told him if it is fix why would i be watching your loaner. feb 28th i lost my job and i pay some payments and then i was paying part of the payments cause they would call me alot of times eveyday.they said i was 30 days late and they were here to pick tv up or a payment. i ask hom to give me couple days to get money and i told him a guy that work for them said dont let them take your tv they will sell it, so the guy here to get it told me i promise you i will hold it for 45 days and give you time to get the payment. he promies he would not do that to me .theypick my tv up nov 16th and i call and told him i would be in at th 1st to make a payment and he told me he sold my tv i only owe 5 months on the tv, and he said he didnt think i was coming back for it, i was paying 127,00 a moth on a 2 year contract and he didnt think i wanted it back. i was so piss off at him and told him i would never buy anything else from his company, so he said to come in with payment and they would find me tv close to match and i said i waited all these months and my tv just got new lamp and if i get a use one what if lamp goes out he said they would replace if it goes out in the 5 months let,if not i guess it is my tuff luck.i pay my payments evey month till i lost the job like 12 or 13 months. i also told him i know people that hasnt pay on there account in 6 months or more and still have there stuff.do any one know a number to call there boss because he is the manager of arons in portsmouth on george washington hwy.va.i dont believe the company knows how these people are treating there custmors.he also new i was a moth behind when he came to get it and still promise he would not sale the tv.my email is ariesilu2@msn.com

I rented from Arron's in Norristown, Pa and I have never had any issues concerning the items I bought. I got a 52' TV about 4 years ago and it stopped working just recently. Shannon the store sale manager called the company for me and set up an appt for them to come look at it (warranty expired), they didn't charge me much to fix it either. I recommend Arron's in Norristown, Pa to everyone. Brian, Cory and Shannon are the best and very friendly. I stop in once a month to see what specials they have and they're always friendly and helpful. Of course you pay a little more with interest and all. As with a car or anything else you finance, but when you can't afford to buy nice things outright, Arron's is the next best thing. Shannon, Cory and Brian deserve an award for their service and they keep the store very clean. So stop complaining if you chose to go there no one forced you and they don't do false advertising so you get what they have to offer.

as u all should know if u r a rent to own customer then your credit probably sucks or u would buy from best buy or some other place that only will deal with good credit. as for me i am an aarons customer, my credit sucks, but i love my aaron's experience and thank you to all at henderson texas aarons.

I haven't used Aaron's but use rent-a-center I purchased my bedroom set with no issues bought a dinette set for next to nothing for cash and the couch set I bought and am currently paying on. I only buy what I can definetly afford payments for. one piece at a time I always pay evry two weeks the only trouble I have ever had is them calling to get me to buy more stuff. other then that RAC has been pretty good.

Posted by sand717 on 12/14/2009
Just want you to know that I have rented from Aaron for the pass 11 years. And have not had a probaly with them here in McKinney Texas. I have left post dated checks there, for them to put it on the date and as of now they have not put it one two many checks in, but if they did they would work with me I bet. My husband started a new job and the payments were due they work with me and help me figure something out that would work for me and my family. And I do agree with some of the above with some rent to own company but make sure you are not getting them confess with each other, they are different companies. Rent to Own is different then Aaron's there is where people are confessing the companies. Make sure you have the right company fill out the paper work and talk with them, you don't have to get the item right away, take a couple of days to think about it. It is always buyer beware, but also it is your choose to ask for a new item.

well i have to say first off the aarons i deal with is awesome... however you may be the judges of this. which is still an ongoing problem. out southern california. bout a 47' lcd tv from aarons. i had money but was told this trade-line would help my credit. so i pay the tv for a 1 1/2 to 2years then pay it off. that was over a year ago now. i have still not seen this reflect on my credit report!!! wtf... that is the only reason i bought the tv in the first place. they have no corporate number to dial and the store manager said he would look into it. then i had to call him back and he said it posted. CREDIT sux either way though i used to work in mortgage, the calculations for credit need to happen a lot quicker if they want to base everyone's lives on credit.

Oh Heck NO! I've been renting with Aarons for almost 3 years, I was told by friends that they were pricey, I was at Rent a center previously, Aarons WAS NOT more expensive and I get the best customer service I have ever had w/ a rental center. They have worked out payments when times got tough, And we can refinance our lease for cheaper payments! realistically people what did you expect something for nothing? Pay your bills, they don't come out and take your stuff for nothing! I knew when I signed up that I am paying an ungodly interest rate for my furniture..seriously ungodly, but when you read the fine print you know what you are getting into. RTO is a get what you pay for type business. The cheaper the rent the more likely it is to have been used. I am going to stick up for Aarons here @ least the Montana branches, they are fun, easy going and great group of people to work with.

I've had a king-sized mattress (only, I PURCHASED the bed from jcpenney.com) previously, and paid it off, and am currently purchasing a washer-and-dryer set, from the Aaron's in Vernon, Texas.

I've experienced nothing but outstanding customer service, and I'm going in for a bedroom suite this month. In eighteen months I'll own this stuff.

Now, OF COURSE you pay too much, on the whole purchase, for their products. But hey, that is what rent-to-own means.

Nothing but good things to say about the local store, and I've done business there, off-and-on, for five years now.

Pay your bills ontime, and they'll do you right! And don't fall for big-screen TVs and "luxury" items on rent-to-own. Of all of their available items, those are the MOST heavily marked up (do a shopping trip for research, bring your calculator, and you'll see this for yourself). Good night, and good luck.

aarons rent makes it impossible to pay out the final payment.after you pay the final ..they add another 99.00..and wont sent the binding contract..but used strong arm tactics..and called reference harassing them and always call before the pay date blowing up your phone using all your minutes.
the manager @ state road seven in fort lauderdale curtis is very nasty...on the end of payment very nasty and need to be reported..this company acts like the mob...door banging and hanging reminders through out the entire payment. when confronted they say you are a good customer but treat you like crappppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp!!!!!

You might see "Fair Debt Collection Practices Act" (www.ftc.gov) and call federal (1-877-382-4357) and state authorities - they will help you.

This act is very strict and it is possible that Aaron's violated laws and will settle with you just because they wouldn't want to deal with it i.e. spend money on their lawyers and alike.

If they slender and/or libel you in anyway, you might look into civil action/laws.

In any case, make sure you got evidence i.e. phone records, who called you and what they said.

Also, you could contact you local press, the U.S. congressman, the U.S. senators and consumer advocacy groups.

Sincerely,
Former Aaron’s manager

I will never do business with Aaron's again. I will save my money and buy what I need from a store. I purchased a 52" Sony Bravia flat screen TV from the local store 2 years ago. Made 23 payments on it and then something went wrong with TV. Told local store and they came to pick up my TV and brought me a "LOANER". Didn't hear a word from them in a month. Yesterday I had to amke the LAST payment on the contract. I asked about my TV. They told me that it couldn't be fixed, well it could be fixed but they weren't going to do it. I was to be stuck with the "LOANER". I am furious. The only reason I went in for this Aarons contract was because I was assured I was buying a "NEW" TV. This "LOANER" they brought me is far from new and it is scratched up. I have kept up my end of the contract and I feel that Aaron's has not. The local store manager just laughed. I called their home office and some regional district manager called me back. He was no help. He just kept telling that they have fullfilled their warranty, to read the paperwork, blah, blah, blah. I have called back home office and will try writing to President of company. Lesson learned here, stay away from Aaron's. Oh and by the way I was always on time with my payments, never missed ANY of them!!! Do they care? NO!!!

Posted by Mslucypoo on 03/05/2010
I just made my third purchase from Aaron's, I have been using them since 2005 with out any problems. I do not get harassed because I made my payments on time. I paid off my stuff and now own it. The furniture I purchased in 2005 is still in good condition, stylish and sturdy so maybe it's luck and maybe this particular store in Michigan has better staff.

Aarons is a scam! Nothing but criminals. my friends sister was raped by two delivery people when she couldn't make her payment. They pushed her into her apartment and did unspeakable things to her.

I just recently finished up my 18 month agreement on a bedroom set plus mattress set with aarons. i dont have a single bad thing to say about them. I paid all of my bills on time and never had a single problem. they were very polite and courteous when i went in. I can say that i probably wont be buying any electronics or appliances from them. based on the other comments....i dont want to take the risk. how do you really know if what you're getting is new? and how can you be sure they'll uphold their end of the agreement if something happens to your product? not worth it...i'll just save up for that kind of stuff :)

I rented a Computer from Aaron's. Just the tower, not the monitor. After 3 months, my monitor went out. I called them, and they had a monitor waiting for me when I got there. They just added it to my account. After a year, the computer and the monitor were paid off. I was never late, and never missed a payment. They waived my last months payment because I was in good standing with them. As long as you make regular payments, they leave you alone. When I was getting the paperwork once I owned the computer, they even added another YEAR warranty with Dell. So I paid on the computer for 1 year, and got a 2 year warranty. I have had one problem with the computer, and called Dell for tech support, and the warranty was honored, and doesn't expire for another 9 months.
I am shopping for a nice flat screen TV, and will go to Aaron's to get it.

bottom line is you should read what you sign, if you do not have good credit or little credit, it is no one's fault but your own, if you are to the point that you have to use a rent to own just remember one thing, YOU need them they do not need YOU

Posted by diminno_1 on 12/22/2011
well what ive found from them, they tell you what you wanna hear till you hand em cash n sign your name.after that they only care about gettin there pmt! we went in and bought new furniture,n were promised a certain delivery time and day, well half way thru day,we call n get told that were not even on delivery for that day.. so we pay for a month, dont get stuff for a week after, refused a credit for the wait week. they could care less... sure bet theyd be ringin your phone off the hook when pmt is due,,try n bullshit them for a week on pmt. so heres to you aarons....
