On April 21st I put $700 deposit down on a '96 Safari van purchasing for $1500 to Shawn of A & S Towing & Transportation, and drove away with the understanding that he would mail registration and plates. I got a company receipt for $700 deposit,with a balance of $800.
Three weeks later I got the van towed by Oviedo police.
I faxed my receipt to the tow yard & they stated that I was not the registered owner and that the van would not be released to me.The former owner was still the registered owner.
Oviedo police contacted the registered owner, Richard Bowers, and he picked up the van. Richard Bowers called me and stated that the van was taken from him illegally, that his signature was forged on the title sale, that Shwan is a "crook". The Orange county sherriff says it is a civil issue.
Shawn ,the car dealer, says that Richard is not giving the van back and that I have just "lost the van", also when I get more cash to call him back.
I am out my $700 and I have no transportation!
